The Turin Gallatin V is the value-oriented model in the Gallatin E61 lineup: a 58mm semi-automatic espresso machine with a 2-liter stainless steel heat-exchange boiler, PID-managed boiler temperature, programmable pre-infusion and a vibration pump. It can brew espresso and steam milk at the same time, making it a practical step into prosumer espresso for households that prepare cappuccinos, lattes and Americanos as well as straight shots.
Its classic E61 brew lever, group pressure gauge and shot timer keep the workflow tactile and visible. The Gallatin V does not include the manual flow-control paddle or rotary pump found on the Gallatin R, which keeps the platform more straightforward and more affordable.
The HX design supports simultaneous extraction and steam production. Once the boiler and E61 group are fully heated, it is well suited to preparing several milk drinks.
The interface adjusts boiler temperature, pre-infusion, shot timing and economy behavior. Repeatable warm-up and flushing habits help turn those controls into consistent espresso.
The thermosiphon-heated group provides the familiar prosumer lever workflow and accepts broadly available 58mm baskets, tampers, puck screens and preparation tools.
The vibration pump supplies espresso brewing pressure while keeping price below the rotary-pump Gallatin R. Direct connection is supported for occasional use, but the reservoir is the natural everyday configuration for this pump type.
A three-hole steam tip and joystick valve provide steam for flat whites, cappuccinos and lattes while espresso is brewing. A separate hot-water wand supports Americanos and tea.

Allow enough time for the boiler, E61 group and portafilter to stabilize. Grind fresh coffee, distribute and tamp evenly, then pull the shot while weighing beverage yield. Treat time as diagnostic feedback: adjust the grinder to reach balanced flavor and sensible flow rather than forcing every coffee into one universal recipe.
Because this is a heat-exchange system, develop a repeatable flushing routine after long idle periods. Boiler setting, group temperature and idle time interact. For milk drinks, begin with cold milk, add air briefly near the surface, then keep the tip positioned to roll the milk until glossy. Purge and wipe the wand immediately afterward.
All three Gallatin machines use a 58mm E61 group and can brew espresso while steaming milk. The important differences are boiler architecture, pump type, direct-water suitability, flow control and how independently the user can manage brew and steam temperature.
| Buying factor | Gallatin V | Gallatin R | Gallatin DB |
|---|---|---|---|
| Heating system | 2 L heat-exchange boiler | 2 L heat-exchange boiler | 1 L brew boiler + 1 L steam boiler |
| Pump | Vibration | Rotary | Fluid-o-Tech rotary |
| Brew temperature control | PID manages the HX boiler; flushing and idle time affect group temperature | PID manages the HX boiler; flushing and idle time still matter | Independent brew-boiler PID control |
| Manual flow control | No | Yes | Yes |
| Water-source flexibility | Best suited to reservoir use | Reservoir or properly prepared direct-water installation | Reservoir or properly prepared direct-water installation |
| Milk-drink workflow | Strong simultaneous brewing and steaming at the lowest price | HX steaming with quieter rotary-pump operation | Independent steam settings and brew temperature |
| Best reason to choose it | Value-focused entry into an E61 HX machine | Rotary pump, flow control and plumbing without paying for dual boilers | Maximum temperature independence and profiling control |
| Main tradeoff | Vibration-pump sound and no flow-control paddle | HX temperature management rather than an independent brew boiler | Higher price and more controls than some users need |
Choose the Gallatin V if you primarily want strong espresso and milk-drink performance with a classic E61 workflow at the lowest cost in the lineup.
Choose the Gallatin R if a quieter rotary pump, direct plumbing and manual flow control matter, but independent brew and steam boilers do not.
Choose the Gallatin DB if you want independent brew and steam temperature control or expect to work with different roast levels and flow-profile recipes.
The V fits a home barista who wants E61 styling, simultaneous brew-and-steam capability and PID-managed HX operation at the lowest entry point in the family. Move to the Gallatin R for a rotary pump, more permanent plumbing and manual flow control. Move to the Gallatin DB when independent brew and steam temperatures are essential.
Use espresso-compatible water to reduce scale while retaining enough mineral content for flavor and machine sensing. Backflush with water regularly, clean with detergent according to the manual, rinse baskets and the portafilter, and keep the steam tip clear. If using direct water, treat it as occasional use for the vibration pump and install appropriate filtration and leak protection.

No. It uses a 2-liter heat-exchange boiler. That design still allows brewing and steaming together.
No. The Gallatin R and DB add manual flow-control paddles. The V uses the standard E61 lever workflow with electronic pre-infusion.
It is direct-connect capable, but because it uses a vibration pump, direct connection is recommended only for occasional use. The 1.7-liter reservoir is the usual setup.
The V uses a vibration pump and omits manual flow control. The R uses a rotary pump and includes a flow-control paddle.
Not exactly. The PID controls HX boiler conditions; temperature at the puck also depends on the heat exchanger, group, warm-up and flushing.
It uses a standard 58mm portafilter and includes single and double baskets.
Allow the heavy E61 group and locked portafilter to heat completely, not only the boiler.
Use scale-conscious espresso water with enough minerals for flavor and reliable operation.
No. Use an espresso-capable grinder with fine, repeatable adjustment.
A one-year Espresso Outlet warranty and support are included for machines purchased from Espresso Outlet.
