Alexandrette Black, a high contrast tub
The Alexandrette Black Marble Hand-Carved Bathtub is cut from a single solid block of black marble quarried in Turkey. White veins run across a deep black ground, and that contrast makes the tub the clear focal point of the bathroom from the moment the door opens. It is a freestanding soaking tub, 32 inches wide, 72 inches long and 20 inches high, polished inside and out. Because each tub is carved from its own block rather than pieced together, no two share the same veining or character. This is a bathroom fixture chosen for daily use over many years, and the stone, the size and the finish are all set up for exactly that.
Black ground, white veining
Alexandrette is a dark marble with a strong personality. The base is a deep black, and white veins cross it in irregular lines, some fine and some broad, so the pattern changes as one walks around the tub. The polished finish deepens the black and makes the white veins sharper. It also reflects light softly, which gives the surfaces depth and makes the piece feel more sculptural than purely functional. From inside the tub or from across the room, every side has something to look at. The form is hand carved: a smooth basin, a rounded rim and outer walls shaped from the same block, with no bonded joints anywhere. Because the stone is natural, the amount and direction of white veining differ from one tub to the next, and moderate variation between pieces is normal for this marble. A black tub reads well against white or pale gray walls, with light stone floors, or in a darker room where it adds depth rather than contrast.

Extra large and deep
At 72 inches long and 32 inches wide, this is an extra large soaking tub, with space for full body immersion. The 20 inch height keeps the profile low and calm, so the tub does not overpower the room even at this length. The proportions balance a generous soak with a restrained, minimal outline, which suits contemporary bathrooms and more formal primary suites alike. The marble walls, 0.75 to 1.25 inches thick, give the tub its structure and its thermal mass. Marble warms slowly and then holds the heat: once the stone has absorbed warmth from the bath water, it radiates it back, which keeps the water warm noticeably longer. In practice that means longer soaks with less reheating of the water. Marble does start cool, especially in a cold room, but once the tub is full of hot water the stone holds that warmth well.

Heavy stone needs planning
This bathtub is heavy, and it needs both professional installation and proper structural support. Before ordering, the floor capacity should be verified by a contractor, allowing for the tub full of water and in use, and the budget should include professional movers and installers. The drain and faucet are sold separately, which leaves the choice of fittings open to match the rest of the bathroom. The plumber positions the drain beneath the tub and runs supply to either a floor mounted tub filler or a wall mounted faucet, both of which work with a freestanding tub. The tub is then set, leveled and connected. A careful installation protects both the stone and the floor beneath it. Delivery access matters too: the route from the truck to the bathroom, including doorways, stairs and turns, should be measured against the size of the tub before it ships, so the crate can be moved in without surprises on the day.

This bathtub is carved to order, and it ships within 8 to 14 weeks. The same black marble can also be carved to a custom size or a different finish when the standard 32 by 72 inch footprint does not suit the room. To start a custom order, contact us with the bathroom measurements and the position of the drain. We will confirm the options, the finish and the schedule before carving begins.
Care
Alexandrette Black is a calcite marble with a polished surface. Marble is a softer stone and, like all natural stone, it is porous, so it can absorb liquids and stain if they sit. Acidic cleaners, such as those with lemon juice or vinegar, can etch the polish, and steel wool or abrasive products can scratch it. Sealing protects the stone, and how often it is resealed depends on how much the tub is used. On a dark polished surface, water spots show more readily than on a light one.
SHIPPING POLICY
We offer FREE shipping on all orders. There are 2 methods used for shipment and delivery which are delivered curb-side:
1. FOR MOST RANGE HOODS, SINKS, FAUCETS AND ACCESSORY PRODUCTS - FedEx Ground is used for delivery. FedEx will deliver the product and leave outside of premise only with out calling to arrange delivery.
2. FOR RANGES, COOKTOP, DROP-INS, DISHWASHERS AND REFRIGERATORS - FedEx Freight is used for delivery. FedEx will call to arrange a specific delivery time and you will have to arrange to be at the ship to address to accept the product. FedEx will not deliver the product in the premise.
We do not ship to PO Boxes.
Fedex Freight delivers the product curb-side only and arrangements to move the product inside the premise will have to be made by the customer.
Full insurance is included in all shipments.
Tracking number(s) will be provided by the email supplied 1-2 business days* after the date of the order is placed and after which:
- Items shipped FedEx Ground will take 2-4 business days* after processing date.
- Items shipped FedEx Freight will take 3-5 business days* after processing date
